DJ Envy’s Name Dragged Into Real Estate Fraud Battle
The real estate scandal involving DJ Envy, whose real name is Rashaun Casey, continues to unfold with new accusations and legal battles. Envy’s former business partner, Cesar Pina, widely known as “Flippin’ NJ,” is at the center of the controversy, accused of orchestrating a multi-million-dollar Ponzi-like scheme.
Federal authorities charged Pina with wire fraud in October 2023, alleging he lured investors into flipping homes in distressed New Jersey neighborhoods while mismanaging funds.
Many investors, who paid between $100,000 and $1 million, are pursuing civil lawsuits against Pina, his wife, and Envy. Some allege that Envy promoted Pina’s ventures on his popular radio show, The Breakfast Club, making him partially responsible.
“None of us would have invested with Cesar if it had not been for Envy’s endorsement,” said Luis Hernandez, an investor who claims to have lost $250,000.
Attorneys representing victims have uncovered troubling bank records suggesting the Pinas moved millions of dollars from accounts shortly after receiving investor funds. “I would estimate between $25 and $50 million was taken,” said Alexander Schachtel, an attorney for 12 investors.
Despite these claims, Envy’s attorney, Dan Marchese, has vehemently denied the allegations against his client, calling them a smear campaign designed to force a financial settlement. “This is green-mail, pure and simple,” Marchese said.
Meanwhile, Pina faces further scrutiny as he awaits a bail revocation hearing scheduled for Monday. Sources reveal he may be accused of engaging in additional real estate deals and contacting witnesses, potentially violating his bail terms.
With lawsuits piling up and allegations intensifying, the case continues to grip public attention.
