J. Cole Opens Up About Regretting Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

Daylyt recently revealed details about his conversation with J. Cole following the release of Cole’s controversial diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar, “7 Minute Drill.”

After the track caused a stir, Cole quickly pulled it from streaming platforms and issued an apology to Lamar.

In a livestream conversation with TDE affiliate Mackwop, Daylyt shared insights into their deep discussion, where Cole explained his regret over the track.

He admitted to overreacting to Kendrick’s subtle jab, stating that he should have kept things subliminal instead of releasing a full song. Cole likened the situation to slap-boxing, where things can quickly escalate into something more serious, and he didn’t want it to turn into a real feud.

Daylyt encouraged Cole to follow his instincts and let go of the energy surrounding the track, emphasizing that his decision wasn’t about fear of competition but about staying true to his principles. Cole ultimately removed the track, which surprised Daylyt but earned his respect.

Cole later addressed the situation in his surprise track “Port Antonio,” where he expressed his thoughts on rap beefs and his decision to retract the song.

He condemned the industry’s obsession with conflict and the online culture that amplifies drama, stating that he wouldn’t have lost the battle but would have lost a brother.
